Music playing
Frozen Lake
Hope the music might reflect a little of a vision of ice, yet the place you find within is always going to be a very personal one.
The experiance of standing on a large frozen lake is incredable, locked, dark, hard and so perfectly flat as far as the eye can see.

Nearly grey
Still was not used to the lakes frezing up here and had not seen so many winters here in Sweden. This was taken back in 2002, yet still get a kick looking at it, remembering
the errie sounds that ice made
under my feet.
It looks as if it goes on for miles and your eyes can rest in the mist beyond.

Aspen
Often pop down to the lake Aspen after work or on my lunch break, just in case I might be smiled apone from above.

Sky glass
Should I venture out onto this playground or not....
not sounded very good... yet that ice was begging for some size 42s...
Look but don´t touch - how many times does one here that!
Yet unless I can see an old man sitting fishing on the lake or a five year old I was just looking.

Paused
My local haunt and lake with so many hours spent there. I was on a round trip that day to many local lakes; as this was the first ice of the year. Newly formed over night and fast getting thicker.

Cracked
Would you venture out there?
Having an expensive camera on your shoulder can be a comfort, so I decided against the idea.
That crack was sending a message load and clear.
Yet there was evidence at the end of the boat getty of a single ice-skater putting on his skates and venturing off - yet no evedence of his returning!

Lockness
Now there are three shots from that day here. Although this is a merge of two; often want just that little bit more than my wide angle lens can offer.
It was a bonus having a few clouds overhead to reflect down and feal very calming standing there; as if time was standing still for me.

soon gone
Now that ice has lost it´s strength, almost decayed
in it´s coloring.
It was a moment when your made to feel so small and unimportant. The clouds were about to burst on me with more winter rain.
I waited for it - the first heavy drops on the ice....

melting
The rain came as expected and
I was far from waterproof, so only time for this one shot before my lens became to wet.
Yet a wet lense might have added to the effect for all I know?

Holding on
This is the same location as the last three shots; lake Aspen.
I feel so lucky to have this expance so close to home, a place to breath; were you can let your eyes relax on distant details of no importance.

Humlebadet
Humelbadet translates to Humle=Bee Badet=The bathing area! Just thought you might be wondering! It is one of those local spots were a walk in the autom can be very peaceful with the huge lake called Aspen reflecting all the colours from the surounding forest.

ice thoughts
The ice can moan now and then, depending on the season maybe, yet I have heard the most errie and powerful sounds of rumbling like thunder in the distance and fealt the vibrations as the sheets rub together on large lakes.
Walking on a frosen lake is a weard experiance, no doubt about it and who takes that first step?
I can be told I´m standing on 30cm of thick ice, yet it still feels like only 1cm.
So you get down to the lake early for maybe the morning light and your on your own... a new fall of snow last night, so no footsteps visable - you put your camera equipment down on what you think is the beach and clear away a spot on the ice.
What you see is the bakground image used for this page - a dark world that seems to go on forever.
